With this in mind, develop a plan of action to determine whether or not to extract a mineral. What factors must you consider? What facilities would you need? What scientific knowledge must you have?
Good luck you mineral miners!!
Minerals found in our environment are often extracted from the ground in the form of an ore. This ore must be separated in a process called mineral dressing or ore dressing. Mining companies must consider whether the value of the mineral justifies the expense of this extraction and separation process.

1. The factors that you would need to consider is the rarity, condition, depth and location, cost to get it, profit of the sell, physical properties, and chemical properties. The rarity is important because if everyone has it then no one wants it. The condition is important because if it is damaged and if it's not repairable then it won't be worth that much. The depth and location is important because you need to know if you can get to the mineral and how much it cost to get to it. The cost to reach and all other expenses must be less than the profit or you won't make money and shouldn't mine it. You must know the physical and chemical properties to know how it reacts to the atmosphere.

We would determine whether or not to extract the mineral from the earth by seeing how much the mineral is in demand. If the mineral is not wanted very much, there is no need to mine it. But if it was in high demand and it was fairly easy to mine and extract, we would want to extract more of the mineral. But if it was fairly hard to extract, it would cost more to buy.

To extract minerals from the ground it has to be worth something. It also has to be in a reasonable place to where you can earn more money when you have it than the money you spend to get to it. You would have to know what it's made of and how much that mineral is worth. You would also have to know if it's in the ground and if so how deep it is, you would have to know what tools you would need, how many workers you need there, where you need to go to find the minerals and much, much more.

Ore dressing is the cleaning of ore by the removal of certain valueless portions, as by jigging, cobbing, or vanning. Mining companies have to make the decision whether extracting the mineral will pay off in the end. Meaning, will the mineral be valuable enough to spend the money on to extract it, or will the mineral be a waste of money. There are different methods for different types of extracting and separating processes. Some different types of the separating process is the magnetic, rock cutting, rock crushing, and rock powdering. You must consider whether the mineral is going to be valuable. If the mineral is not valuable it is not a great idea to extract it. The facilities you may need to extract a mineral are things such as, an enclosed shatter box, you can extract strongly magnetic particles using a hand magnet, to crush the rocks you can use large or small jaw crushers, large stainless steel mortars and pestles. To cut the rocks you can use a large or small rock saw. The things you would need to have the knowledge to separate the mineral is how to use the high quality devices/machines. You would also need the knowledge of density for separation of the minerals. To extract the minerals you must understand the law and the rights you have to be able to extract or not allow you to extract at certain areas. Also, of course you would need the scientific knowledge of minerals.

We think that the first thing you should do is figure out the size of the mineral and what size of tool you should use to extract the mineral. Then we would have to consider the price, the climate, and the time the extracting takes. The next action we would take is finding the location in which you will be and the conditions and terms in which you are under. You will also need to know the size of the mineral you are taking out and the tools in which you will need. You will also need to test the air to detect toxic gases and accurate measures to remove the minerals.

An ore is a type of rock that has important minerals inside them. Some of the minerals in an ore could be metals, gold, lead or even diamonds. These minerals can be refined or dressed to separate the minerals from the rock. Ore dressing is the mechanical treatment of ores to separate the minerals inside them. The factors you have to consider when extracting minerals are the climate, equipment, location, profits, the people needed for the extraction, and the expenses. These would all be important to consider because there are many different ways to refine or dress an ore. These techniques depend on the mineral you are trying to separate from the ore.

To mine for minerals a scientist must think and examine the ore first. This is critical because if the mineral is worth less than the cost to extract it then there is no money made. If this mineral is barely worth a cent and it cost $2,000 just to extract it then you are in a lot of trouble, so you have to be able to recognize what it is.
