The article I'm doing is called NASA's Kepler Spacecraft Discovers Dark Alien Planet. By Meera Dolasia. The Kepler Spacecrafts mission was to search the milky way galaxy for planets like ours. They found a few celestial objects. They also found an alien planet. They named the planet TrES-2b. The planet was about 75 million light-years away from earth. Scientists say it is “Blacker than coal” or “Less reflective than the darkest acrylic paint. The only light that comes from TrES-2b is a faint red glow. Close to the coils on an electric stove. The scientists say that the hot atmosphere is as high as 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit, (980 degrees Celsius). This is because it's closeness to the sun. The planet manages to absorb about 99% it receives from the sun. How? Researchers are not sure, they believe it could be because it's atmosphere comprises of light-absorbing chemicals like vaporized sodium and potassium or maybe even some chemical that they don't know exists. I chose this article because the title caught my eye. Also I love to read stuff like this because I think it is real interesting. I learned from this article that There is a new discovered planet. If I didn't read this article I wouldn't have known. The subject added to my knowledge by me finding out about a new discovery. This knowledge will help me in the future by me knowing there could be more

The article that I chose to review over this week is “North America's Hurricane Season Begins With A Bang” By Meera Dolasia. The official day of the hurricane season began on June 1st but it started off really quite until Irene came in as a category 3 hurricane. Irene struck the Caribbean Island before it hit the eastern coast of the United States and went up the coast line.

Their color of choice? Pink of course! This article talks about how Flamingos purposely enhance their pink color. They get a pigment from the food they eat and spread it on their bodies. It is beneficial for them to be the pinkest Flamingo.

My name is Ashton and I’m reviewing the article “Lizard Runs On Water-Really” by Meera Dolasia. This article is about the Basilisk, which is named after a mythical Greek character with magical powers. On a sunny day the Basilisk looks like a common lizard that is basking in the tropical forests of South and Central America. The only time you will get to see it’s unearthly ability to run over the surface of the water is when it is startled by a predator.

The article I am summarizing is “Mandrill Monkeys Learn How to Get Some Space.” The author of this article goes by the name of Meera Dolasia. The main idea of this reading is that monkeys can’t talk to other monkeys and tell them they want to be left alone. Monkeys can’t put “Do not disturb” signs on their trees so to speak. Monkeys have learned it the hard way. Some things just don’t come to them as quick as they do to humans. Milly's simple gesture received any credence. Since the biologists have been studying Mandrill monkeys for years he realized she was trying to tell them something. During his 100 hours of observing the behavior of the zoo monkeys he noticed that when any member of the clan loosely placed their hands over the eyes, they were not approached or touched by the other monkeys as much. The monkeys even used this sign when they were being bullied by some of the stronger members. I chose to do a study over this article, because it caught my interest in many different ways. For example, I thought it was amazing how the monkeys came up with this sign and that they all learned it so fast. Another reason I like this article is that my favorite animal in the entire universe is a monkey. When I see them I think of how cool it would be to talk to other monkeys by screaming at each other. In this study for this article I learned that monkeys can be a lot smarter then we expect them to be. I mean of course we knew they were smart but, there might be other things that they might know and not want to show us. When I first saw this article I thought they got their privacy by screeching at each other. After I read and studied this article I found out that they do something a little quieter than screeching at each other, they cover their eyes to let the other monkeys know they want to be alone. This knowledge will help me better understand the topic in the future by letting me walk through it whenever I want to look back on it or when I feel like I forget something and I need to know it. That is what I think a well thought out written summary on my article.

You may not think it’s such a big deal to walk up to the chancellor on your graduation day and receive your diploma. Well, on Saturday May 14th, Austin Whitney a UC Berkeley senior did the unthinkable. He did just that, walked on stage and received his diploma. Here’s the catch, Austin is paralyzed from the waist down!
