For my article this week, I am doing “Harbin's Spectacular Snow And Ice Festival Celebrates 28th Year” by Meera Dolasia. There are many reasons to dislike winter weather, the sub-zero temperatures, predictably miserable weather and dark nights all contribute to the sad faces around the globe. But there are still reasons to smile too, as proven by this wonderful theme park in northeast China created entirely from ice and snow. The 28th Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival, which opened Christmas Day, features work by some of the country's best ice sculptors and attracts thousands of visitors from around the world. Those who attend the event can navigate the ice cities on foot or via the festival's horse and carriage rides. As well as walking around and marveling in awe at the colorful creations, they can also zip down snowy slides or climb up the staircases of ice castles and investigate what's inside. The Harbin Ice and Snow Festival is one of the world's top ice festivals. It now stands right next to famous ice based events such as the Sapporo Snow Festival in Japan and Quebec's Winter Carnival in Canada. Harbin is known as Ice City, as the winters there are bitterly cold (the temperature can drop down to as low as -30°C), but the conditions are perfect for the ice festival which has its origins in the ice lanterns that were made by local fishermen. The very first festival is said to have been held in Zhaolin Park in Harbin's old district in 1963. It was suspended for some time during the Cultural Revolution, then it started up again, finally, in 1999, the city government started the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival. Last year, tens of thousands of people worked on the displays, which include world record sized snow sculptures, some longer than two football fields, while other monuments measure up to 50 meters tall (160ft high). Spread out across three zones, the theme park features a range of snow based rides, Ice Mountains and reproductions of some of the most iconic buildings in the world, which are all carved from giant blocks of ice and snow. If you want to take your family to somewhere exciting, this is the place to go. It’s not only unique, it’s as beautiful as a place can be.

This week I’m reviewing the article “Time Cloak Can Make ‘Events’ Simply Vanish!” by Meera Dolasia. Have you ever wanted to undo something wrong that you did or just wish it had never happened? Maybe you were caught cheating on your math test or possibly caught taking the last cookie out of the cookie jar. We all have done things that we regret and no matter how hard we try and forget about it it’s always there to haunt us. Well scientists have finally found a way to make your wish come true.

The article I am reviewing is “Watch out Roger Federer, Here Comes Jan” by Meera Dolasia. Jan is 5 years old and is considered the Tiger Woods of Tennis. Jan is already being talked about as the future champ of American Tennis. Jan has almost always loved tennis, he was watching a tennis match, and started to imitate James Blake, ( currently ranked #14 in the world) and wanted to watch his game over and over again. By the time Jan was three he was playing imaginary games with himself about tennis. He would be playing tennis against himself and would pretend to wipe his sweaty face in between shots. When Jan turned four he was invited to be a guest at a Pacific Life ATP in Indian Wells, California. There he impressed Jimmy Conners so much, that Jimmy asked Jan’s parents to include Jan on his instructional tennis video. While he was at the PLATP, he caught the eye of Marcos Baghdatis, and his coach, who invited him to train at the MTA (Mouratoglou Tennis Academy) in France. MTA is the best junior tennis training facility in the whole world. Jan is the youngest player at MTA. MTA enrolls a few elite players into their facility. Jan is one special kid.

I don’t think I could complete but like 2 miles of a marathon, if even that, much less seven marathons on seven continents in seven days! If you think that sounds ridiculous, listen to this. One of the people that completed this amazing task was a 50 year old man named Dave Heeley. Now, I’m not picking on his age at all, what I’m talking about is…… he is blind!!! He’s apparently not ashamed or sad about it, because this man from West Bromwich, England calls himself Blind Dave.

Hello, this week I am doing the article called Caterpillars Spin 'Tougher Than Steel' Silk By: Meera Dolasia. Recreating spider silk has been one of scientists top priorities since spiders have been building it. Since spiders are harsh and territorial scientists have been having a hard time. Now scientists have found a new alternative. Silk worms.

My article is by Meera Dolasia and the name is Gibson the world’s tallest dog. He is a celebrity in America, he appeared on various television talk shows, and he has his own book called “Gibson Talks”. He evens has his own tile on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and people are thinking that he will become a celebrity worldwide. Gibson had a documentary made about him and his family. It shows how he interacts with other kids, so if anyone of you have any acting aspirations and like big dogs. Gibson stands nearly 31/2 feet tall at the shoulder and more the 7 feet tall. He is 7 years old and loves to play basketball. When he is standing on his hind legs he is taller then most NBA basketball players. On Friday, August 7th Gibson had passed away from bone cancer, and now there family is trying to pay for all his medical bills and his funeral. I hope that you had fun reading this and I liked it because I got to know the world’s biggest dog named Gibson.

I am reviewing is World Smallest Helicopter by Meera Dolasia on 05/26/2008. This article is about a 75 year old Japanese guy named Gennai Yanagisawa invented the world’s smallest helicopter at Leonardo da Vinci's hometown. The helicopter is called GEN H-4; the helicopter weighs 165 pounds and has two sets of rotors that turn in opposite direction to maintain stability. The helicopter has four engines that it runs on. The four engines allow for a flight time of thirty minutes at speeds not exceeding 60 miles per hour. The helicopter can fly as high as 165ft; he is planning to do three 10-minute flights at the height of just 17ft, so that people can take a better look at the gizmo. So far, Mr. Yanagisawa has sold five Gen H-4's in Japan and two in the USA, for about $57,000 U.S. Dollars apiece. He is hoping that people will start to use them for their daily commutes back and from work. The reason I picked this article is because helicopter that small with someone riding it that amazing isn’t it!!!!! Also I thought that it would be cool to learn about this experience. I knew it was a Chinese or a Japanese person because they make everything but something like that WOW I just wanted to know about that. That’s the reason I pick this article.

The article I am going to write about is Rocket Man Soars across the Alps. The author Meera Dolasia again. Yves Rossy also known as "Fusion Man", always dreamed of soaring in the skies like a bird. Guess what though it was not in a rocket or a plane. He fulfilled his dream by becoming the first person ever to fly at a speed of over 180 miles per hour, with nothing but a wing and four jet engines strapped to his back. Well I could be a plane if you want to say that because of the jet engines.

The article that I chose for this week is “How about a spin, er swim in my new car” by Meera Dolasia. This article is about a latest innovation in automobiles with a car that can run on land and also underwater. Most people say that this reminds them of a James Bond movie. This new car is called sQuba and it was invented by Swiss Designer Rinspeed Inc, and the CEO of this company is a major fan of James Bond. He says that he got the inspiration to build a car like this after he watched the Bond movie “The Spy Who Loved Me”.
