For my article this week, I am doing “1 million dollar painting found in garbage!” When you walk down the streets of your town, have you ever imagined finding something amazing? Jewelry? Gold? Money? What if you where walking down the streets of New York and you spotted something valuable looking in the trash? Elizabeth Gibson, found a painting on the corner of Broadway and 72nd Street four years ago. It wasn't really her thing, style-wise, and she debated whether there was really room in her apartment for the large canvas, but in the end, the painting exerted an irresistible influence over her and she dragged it home. The painting was worth $1,049,000 to be exact, and was painted by a Mexican man named Rufino Tamayo around 30 years ago. This specific painting was titled Dubbed Tres Personajes, the painting had be stolen from the owner and most likely thrown away if Elizabeth wouldn’t have saved it. Elizabeth returned the painting to its original owner, who decided to put it up for sale at Sotheby's (an auction company). An American collector purchased the painting on Tuesday, November 20th, for over one million US dollars. Elizabeth received $15,000 as a reward for returning the painting and will also receive a percentage (portion) of the sale price of the painting, as well as, a finder's fee from Sotheby's. Rufino Tamayo (1899-1991) was a Zapotecan Indian born in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. He moved to México City where he attended the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas "San Carlos." Tamayo was exposed to the cultural wealth of pre-Colombian México as he worked as a draftsman at the Museo Nacional de Arqueologia. While his contemporaries Siqueiros, Rivera and Orozco were advocating art with a message, often political, Tamayo's work focused on plastic forms integrated with a masterful use of colors and textures. Tamayo participated in the development of "Mixografia®," a graphic technique to obtain colored and textured three-dimensional print on handmade paper. He is one of the best known Latin American artists. His exhibitions have been in major museums such as the Palacio Nacional de Bellas Artes, México, The Philips Collection in Washington, The Guggenheim Museum in New York, The Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid as well as important art galleries throughout the world. Next time I am walking down the streets, I know I am going to look for something valuable in the trash!

This week I’m doing the article The Real Spiderman By: Meera Dolasia. We all know that Spiderman is also known as Peter Parker but recently we have discovered there is another name for him…Alain Robert, a.k.a. the real Spiderman. Alain loves to climb tall structure so in a way Peter and him are the same but Alain does it a bit differently. We all know that when Peter turns into Spiderman he shoots webs but Alain climbs with his bare hands.

The article I am reviewing is “The Modern Day Titanic” By: Meera Dolasia on 11-26-2011. Breaking news just like a titanic a Canadian cruise ship hit ice in the frozen water near Antarctica and started to sink on Friday November 23rd. The Explore which was in the middle of an ecological tour off King George Island the boat had 154 passengers. There were 91 passengers, 9 expedition staff members, and 54 crew men. The passengers had to endure near-freezing temperatures in the lifeboats for about four hours, before being rescued by a Norwegian Cruise ship, which was in the area and heard the distress call. While the passengers and crew escaped unhurt, the ships own fate was doomed as it slowly sank and disappeared into the frozen waters near the Antarctica. The reason I picked this article was because I figured that something like the Titanic happened I wanted to see what all happened and how many lives were lost. Also I wanted to see where they were and what all happened to the people on board.

The article review that I chose this week was “Banana Peels – The New Water Purifier” by Meera Dolasia. This article is about how a banana peel which is probably useless in your eyes could do a lot more than what you think. This peel could be used to clear warts and polishing your shoes and even silver. Now through more study it shows that it could take heavy metals out of water.

The article I have chosen to summarize is The World’s Greenest Boat also aims to be the fastest. The author of this article is Meera Dolasia. This boat is shaped like an alien from outer space, Earthrace has been built to break the official 'Round the World Speed Record by a Powerboat'. This article tells me that the is currently record is about 75 days, Earthrace is hoping to do it in 65 days. Wow I would love to have a boat like that. However, unlike the other speedboat, Earthrace will do it using only 100% Biodiesel fuel.

I am reviming the article Toyota Envisions Smartphone Technology For Cars. One of the hardest decisions when buying a new car, is deciding on the exterior and interior color. But with the new Toyota Fun-Vii all of this could change!

The article I will be summerizing is "Tokyo Zoo Celebrates Birth Of A Baby Tapir," written by Meera Dolasia. The main idea of this article is that it is very rare for a tapir to be born so late in the year.
