The reason the the stick appears to be bent is that the water refracts the light therefor the stick appears to be bent. The scientific reason is that the water refracts the light.

An object that improves the way we see light is a projector. It uses a concave lense and makes the light bend outward. It helps because when your in a movie theater instead of looking on a small screen more people can come and watch on a big screen. We think the projector is using a refrating lens.

Our opaque material is a School Locker. The advantages of having an opaque locker is that you can't see what is inside the locker,therefore if something valuable is inside the locker, so no one will know to steal.
Our transparent material is a non-digital clock.
An advantage of having a transparent non-digital clock is that you would be able to tell which position the hands are in, so you could tell what time it is, so if you had an appointment, you wouldn't be late.
Our tranlucent material is tracing paper.
The reason we chose tracing paper was when you want to draw a picture, but not wanting to do a bad drawing so you find something to trace and tracing paper helps for you to see the drawing lines easier.

The reason magma comes out of the earth is because the magma circulates underground and builds pressure until it can’t take anymore pressure so it erupts to the surface that has the most magma under ground. There are many places that have magma, but does not have a lot of pressure so it does not erupt .We the Science Smarties don’t ever except that Missouri will erupt of magma because it is flat and we don’t think that there is enough pressure built up to make Missouri erupt with magma.

One way to determine if an earthquake can be a disaster is its location. The location is important because if an earthquake hits a wheat field then there would be no sign that an earthquake had hit, but if an earthquake hit a city then there would be a lot of buildings destroyed and lots of lives taken.
The second way we think would determine if an earthquake is a disaster is how big the scale is, from 1-10.If an earthquake is a 1 than it is very small and you probably wouldn’t feel it, but if it was a 10 then you better take cover because stuff would be coming down on top of you.
The third and final determination is the resources that people would have after the earthquake. If they had all the resources that they need then everything would be lot easier then if you had no recourses and there is no way of getting things to you and you would be on your own with out help.
These three opinions are what we think that determine if an earthquake is a disaster.

I think it would be harder to dig farther down from that 8 mile point because the earths crust becomes hot and thick. Pretty soon they would run into magma and burn the drill and equipment and they also wouldn't have a way out. Then the magma would fill up in the hole and burn them. They also would not be able to drill past 8 miles because they don't have a drill long enough, so they would have to get in the hole with the drill and if they hit magma they would burn just like we mentioned above.

No, I don’t think there is a high chance of an earthquake like the one in 1811-12 to occur in my lifetime. I think this because the boot of Missouri is not right next to a fault line and fault lines increase chances of earthquakes. I also think this because this other earthquake occurred almost 200 years ago which explains that is was a very long time before my lifetime so I think another one will not occur until after my lifetime.

Ok so if you want the 1st day of every month to be a full moon you would have to make roughly 27-29 days in a month so if you times 28 by 12 you would get 336 which would mean you would need 29 more days so you could have one more month which would equal 13 months so 12 months would have 28 days and then one month (July) would have to have 29 days. But you would still have 1 /4 of the year left so every 4 years I will have 1 day added on to January. So my school year would be from August to March.

2. No, because it takes 687 days for Mars to orbit the sun and it only takes the Earth 365 days to orbit the sun, this happens because Mars is farther away from the sun.
3. We would be about 21 because, we would take 365x13= 4745 and you would divide it by the number of days in a year on Venus which is 225. Then you get your age.
